  1. Ugh, following the links from the story, the backstory is even more f–ked up. There are a lot of people out hawking ivermectin, seemingly because they can make a buck off it, directly or indirectly, and without any real consideration of the evidence. Where this differs from the usual medical scams is (1) The manufacturer isn’t in on the scam, and in typical scams, they are the ones most vulnerable to FDA attack. (2) Since it is an approved medicine, the physicians are doing off-label prescriptions, which is a very lightly regulated thing. (3) There are a lot of crazies giving themselves high, unsafe doses because veterinary products are easily available.
