It seems that when the Republicans gain power with 50.1% of the vote, they’ve got some smoke-filled back room where the calculate exactly how much of their agenda they can ram through, and then they do it. But the Democrats seem to be unable to do that, or perhaps it’s like what was said of the conservative wing of the Republican Party in the 1960s, too large a faction of the Democrats “would rather be right than win”.
